The museums below welcome group visits. Please remember
that museums often require groups to book in advance or can only cater
for limited numbers. We recommend that you ring beforehand to check
this. Contact details can be found by clicking on the museum of your
choice.
Guided tours with group parties are welcomed by
arrangement both during and outside of Museum opening times. The museum
is a valuable aid for Adult learning. You can explore the lives of
the horsemen and their families. Study the allied trades such as the
village blacksmith, wheelwright, saddler and harness maker. Rare stud
books and printed material including stallion cards offer a further
insight into the heritage surrounding the Suffolk Punch Horse as well
as the exports of these animals to all parts of the globe and the
part they played in the Great War.
General group visit Visits begin with a short
video introduction shown to the whole group together the Education
Room. After this small groups are able to visit the Anglo-Saxon Village
and Centre in turn. Due to the small size of the reconstructed buildings
a guided tour of the site is not possible. For an extra fee, a specialist
staff member (when available) can introduce the site and be available
to answer questions about the different aspects. It is advisable to
ask about this when making your provisional booking.
Special event option At certain weekends
and holiday times there are costumed re-enactors in the Village. Special
rates are available for groups at these times.
